Job Description


An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Systems Administrator to join a high-performing team supporting critical virtual data centre environments within the Geospatial domain.
Working onsite in Canberra, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the performance, reliability and security of virtualised infrastructure supporting important national capability outcomes. This position is suited to a technically capable professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex issues, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting highly available enterprise environments.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support across virtualised infrastructure and enterprise systems.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve complex system and infrastructure issues.
  • Monitor system performance, availability and security to maintain operational effectiveness.
  • Support virtual server infrastructure including VMware vSphere environments.
  • Develop and maintain automation and scripting solutions using PowerShell and/or Python.
  • Create and manage advertisements, collections and packages within Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
  • Collaborate with customers, network administrators and technical teams to deliver reliable services.
  • Proactively identify risks and remediation opportunities before they impact operational outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across infrastructure and service delivery functions.

Education/Certifications Required

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Industry certifications relating to Microsoft, VMware, Linux or infrastructure technologies are highly regarded.

Knowledge/Skills Required

Essential

  • Australian Citizenship.
  • Active NV2 Security Clearance as a minimum requirement.
  • TSPV Security Clearance highly preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain additional clearance requirements, including DISA/OSA where required.
  • Experience administering Linux (RHEL) and/or Windows Server environments within enterprise or secure operational environments.
  • Strong experience with virtual server technologies including VMware vSphere and application virtualisation platforms such as App-V.
  • Experience developing scripts and automation solutions using PowerShell and/or Python.
  • Experience working within Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary technical teams.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting virtual data centre environments within Defence, Government or highly regulated sectors.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring, optimisation and automation practices.
  • Experience supporting critical applications and services in multi-user operational environments.
